About the event
After a hiatus of two years, we're back with an online interactive workshop with multiple speakers, interactive case studies and materials to help you tackle how to manage the preservation and access of collections that pose both ethical issues and copyright and related interests, such as traditional knowledge. This is an opportunity to discuss and compare approaches as we continue to work with legacy collections in both the short and long term. The workshop will run for approximately two hours with a health break and include some suggested pre-reads and case studies. Panelists will present the issues and approaches, discuss new forms of collaborative instruments and agreements and then tackle the case studies. A question and answer period will end the program. Please join us for an informative and practical discussion about approaches that may be taken to manage these complex collections. Panelists include:
Dr. Sally Yerkovich, Director of Educational Exchange and Special Projects at The American-Scandinavian Foundation in New York City and Adjunct Professor of Museum Anthropology at Columbia University
OCEAN board member Anne Young, Director of Legal Affairs and Intellectual Property, Newfields
Emma Carter, Rights Specialist, Newfields
Tanya Anderson, Advisor, Intangible Cultural Heritage, Canadian Museum of History
OCEAN board member Rina Elster Pantalony, Director, Copyright Advisory Services, Columbia University Libraries
Hope O'Keefe, Former Senior Associate General Counsel, Library of Congress; emeritus member UIPO
We hope to see you on Zoom!
